What is Light - Physics (Simple Explanation)?

Light is what lets us see things around us, just like how your favorite toy helps you know where it is when you play.

What Light Is Made Of

Light is made of tiny packets called photons, think of them like little bouncy balls that zoom through the air and into our eyes. When these "bouncy balls" hit something, like a wall or your favorite book, they bounce back and we see it. That’s how we know where things are!

How Light Travels

Light travels in straight lines, just like when you roll a ball across the floor, it goes straight unless something gets in its way. If there's a big object blocking the path of light, like a wall, it can’t go through, and that’s why we have shadows. But if the object is small or transparent, like a glass of water, some light will pass through, just like how you can see your hand through a clear window.

Why We See Colors

Different colors come from different kinds of photons, think of them like different flavors of bouncy balls! Red photons are like cherry-flavored ones, blue photons are like blueberry-flavored ones. When all the flavors mix together, we see white light, just like when you mix all your favorite candies in a bag!
