What is liberty?

Liberty is when you get to choose what you do, just like picking your favorite toy to play with.

Imagine you have a box of toys, blocks, cars, and a big plush dinosaur. Liberty means you can pick any toy you want, no one tells you which one to take. You might even switch toys halfway through playing, that’s also part of liberty!

When you have liberty at school or home, it's like being the boss of your day. If you're free to decide when to do homework, play outside, or read a story, that's liberty in action. It's not about being perfect, it’s about having choices.

If someone else decides for you all the time, like picking your toy every day, then you don’t have much liberty. You might still enjoy playing, but it feels a little less fun because you're not choosing what you do.
