What is Legislation? The Making of Laws

Legislation is like a set of rules that everyone agrees on so life can run smoothly.

Imagine you and your friends are playing a game in the park. You all decide together what the rules of the game should be, like who goes first, how many times you can bounce the ball, and what happens if someone breaks a rule. These agreed-upon rules are legislation.

Sometimes, legislation is like a recipe for a party. Just as a recipe tells you exactly what ingredients to use and how to mix them, laws (which are part of legislation) tell people what they can and cannot do in certain situations. For example, if there's no rule about sharing toys, someone might take all the blocks without asking, but with a rule, everyone knows it's fair.

Legislation isn’t made by magic or invisible helpers. It’s created by people, like teachers, parents, or even kids in a classroom, who sit together and talk about what rules would help everyone have fun, stay safe, and get along. That’s how the world keeps turning, one rule at a time!
