A ladder is like a set of stairs you can carry and use to reach high places.
Imagine you want to get on a table to reach a cookie jar that's too high to touch from the floor. If there were steps right there, you could just walk up them, but if there aren’t, a ladder is like having those steps in your hand. You can put one foot on one rung and then the other on the next one, climbing higher and higher until you’re close enough to grab that cookie.
How it works
A ladder has many flat parts called rungs, spaced apart so you can step on them one after another. When you push it against a wall or a table, it stays steady, like how your legs help you stand up straight.
You can also use a ladder to go down, just like going down stairs. It's like having a special tool that helps you move from the ground all the way up to the sky, or at least to the top of a table!
