What is Kingdom Animalia?

Kingdom Animalia is the big group that includes all living creatures that can move on their own, like you, me, dogs, fish, and even tiny bugs.

What Makes an Animal an Animal?

Animals are living things that eat other living things or get food in some way. They also usually have a body made of cells, and they can grow bigger over time. Most animals have bones or something like bones to help them move around, but not all, worms don’t have bones, and they still wiggle!

Even though animals come in all shapes and sizes, from elephants to ants, scientists know they are all part of the same big family because they share similar traits. Like how you and your cousin might look different, but you both have two arms and a nose.

Animals also often have parents, which means they can make more animals, just like how babies come from grown-ups!
