What is January 1st?

January 1st is the start of a new year, just like when you begin a brand-new game.

Imagine you have a big calendar that shows all your days. At the very beginning, there's a special day, January 1st, and that’s when we say, “Hello, new year!” It’s like pressing the “start” button on your favorite toy or video game. Everything resets, and you get to try again with fresh energy.

How We Count Days

We divide time into big chunks called years, and each year has 12 months. The first month is January, and its first day is January 1st. So every year, after December ends, we say goodbye to that year and welcome the next one on January 1st.

Why It Matters

People love celebrating January 1st because it’s a chance to think about what they want to do or learn in the coming months. Some people make new year resolutions, like trying to be more active, read more books, or learn something fun.

It's not magic, just a friendly reminder that time moves on, and you get to start fresh!
