What is iris?

Iris is like the colored part of your eye that helps you see better in different lights.

Imagine your eye is a window to the world, and iris is like the curtain inside that window, it changes size to let more or less light come in. When it's bright outside, the iris gets smaller so not too much light floods your eye. When it's dark, the iris opens up like a door, letting in more light so you can see clearly.

How Iris Works

Think of iris as a superhero that adjusts to help you see better. Just like how you might squint when looking at a bright light or tilt your head to see something better in the dark, your iris does this automatically, all day long, without you even noticing!

Sometimes, people have different colors for their iris, just like how some windows are blue, green, or brown. This color is from a special pigment called melanin, which is like the paint used inside the window of your eye.

So next time you look in the mirror, remember, your iris is working hard to help you see the world clearly!
