What is Intraspecific?

Intraspecific means something happens within a species, like between friends or classmates.

Imagine you're at school, and your whole class is playing tag during recess. Everyone in the class is part of the same group, they’re all humans, just like you are. That’s what intraspecific means: it's about interactions inside the same species.

Like Friends Competing

Think of a race between your friends at school. All of them are from the same class, so it’s an intraspecific competition, they’re all trying to win, but they're still part of the same group.

Or Animals in the Same Forest

Now imagine a forest full of deer. They all eat the same plants and sometimes run after each other when they’re hungry. Even though they’re chasing each other, they’re still deer, so it’s also an intraspecific interaction, just like your friends racing at school.

It's like being in the same group but still trying to be the best!
