What is interpretability? It’s like when you learn how your favorite toy works inside, so you can explain it to a friend.
Imagine you have a robot that draws pictures. You press buttons, and it makes cool shapes. But if someone asks “How does it know what to draw?”, you might not know either. That’s like not being interpretable, the robot is doing something clever, but you can’t explain it easily.
But if the robot shows you what it sees or thinks before it draws, then you can say, “It looks at colors and lines first, then chooses how to make them.” Now you can help your friend understand too. That’s being interpretable, like having a map of the robot's thinking.
Why it matters
When things are interpretable, it helps us fix problems faster. If the robot draws the wrong picture, you know where to look, maybe it saw the colors wrong or got confused with the lines. So interpretability is like giving your toy (or even a computer) a friendly explanation so everyone can understand how it works.
