What is Internet of Things (IoT) devices?

The Internet of Things is when everyday objects can talk to each other using the internet.

Imagine your toy robot has a special button on its chest. When you press it, it sends a message to your tablet and says, “I’m happy!” That’s like an IoT device, it can send messages across the internet just like you do when you text your friend.

Think of IoT devices as smart toys that know how to use the internet. They have sensors or buttons that let them tell other things what they’re doing. Like a smart lightbulb that turns on when it senses it’s getting dark, no one has to flip a switch!

Your parent might use an IoT device in their kitchen, like a coffee maker that starts brewing as soon as they wake up. Or maybe your tablet can tell the TV what show to play, all because of smart devices talking to each other.

These devices are everywhere, from your bedroom to your school, and they make life easier, just like having a robot friend who knows when you need help!
