Impeachment is like when a group of people decide they no longer want to follow someone who was in charge, and they give them a special kind of time-out.
Imagine you're the boss of a big game, and all your friends are playing. If one friend keeps breaking the rules and not listening, even after you've talked to them, the other players might decide to vote that friend out of the game. That's like impeachment, it’s when people in power are voted out because they didn’t do their job properly.
How It Works
- The group of friends (or people in government) can choose to start impeachment by saying, "We think this person should leave."
- Then everyone votes.
- If enough people agree, the person is officially impeached, like being sent to time-out, they might not be able to lead anymore.
Sometimes, the person who was impeached gets to stay in charge for a little while longer, just like how you can still play the game even if someone gives you a time-out. But if enough people say "no more," they’re out!
Examples
- Imagine being in charge of a game, but then everyone agrees you're not playing fair, that's impeachment.
