IL-12 is like a special helper that tells your body when to fight off germs.
Imagine you're playing outside and you get a boo-boo on your knee. You know something isn’t right, so you cry for help. IL-12 is kind of like the person who runs to tell your immune soldiers, called T-cells, that they need to go into battle mode.
How It Works
IL-12 is made by special cells in your body called macrophages, think of them as tiny clean-up workers. When a germ invades, these workers grab it and say, “Hey, IL-12! There’s trouble!”
Then, IL-12 goes to the T-cells and says, “Wake up! We need you to fight this germ!” The T-cells then go on a mission to destroy the invaders, like little warriors in armor.
IL-12 is always working behind the scenes, it helps your body know when to fight and how hard to fight. It’s like the coach of the immune system, shouting instructions so everyone can do their job well!
