What is idealism?

Idealism is when people think the world is mostly made of ideas instead of just stuff you can touch.

Imagine you have a favorite toy that you believe is super strong, so strong it could beat up any other toy. Even if your friend says it’s not that strong, you still believe it because of how much you love it. That's like being an idealist! You're seeing the world through your ideas, feelings, and beliefs instead of just what you can see or touch.

Think about when you dream, sometimes you’re flying or talking to animals. But in real life, those things don’t happen. Idealism is like believing that dream world is actually real in some way. It’s like saying your thoughts and feelings are as important as the real stuff around you.

An idealist might say something like, “The sky isn’t just blue, it’s freedom!” Or they might believe love can make people change forever. That’s because they see more than what's right in front of them, they see the meaning behind things.
