Hunger is when your body says, “I need food to keep going!”
Imagine you have a toy robot that needs batteries to work. When it runs out of batteries, it stops moving and makes a beep beep sound, just like how your tummy feels when it's hungry. Your body uses energy from the food you eat, and when there’s not enough food left, hunger starts telling you it’s time to eat again.
What Hunger Feels Like
When you’re hungry, your stomach might feel empty or grumbly, like a little drum inside you. Sometimes your tummy even makes sounds! That's your body reminding you, “I need more fuel!”
Why We Get Hungry
Your body is like a car that needs gas to keep running. Every time you eat, it gets gas (from food). When the gas runs low, your body says, “I need more!”, and that’s hunger!
Examples
- Someone eats a big lunch and doesn’t feel hungry until later in the day.
- After skipping breakfast, someone grabs a snack quickly.
