What is honesty?

Honesty is when you say what’s really true, even if it’s not always easy.

Imagine you're playing a game with your friend, and you both want to be the winner. If you win, but you know your friend lost because they made a mistake, honesty means you tell them the truth, like saying “You did your best, and that's what matters!” instead of hiding their mistake or making it seem worse.

Like Sharing Your Snack

Let’s say you have a big cookie, and your friend has a small one. You really want to eat the whole big cookie, but you know your friend would be happy if they got some too. If you take all the cookie without saying anything, that's not honesty, it's like taking the cookie secretly. But if you say, “I’ll share my cookie with you,” that’s being honest and fair.

When You Make a Mistake

Sometimes you might do something wrong, maybe you took a toy that wasn’t yours. If you say you did it, even though it feels bad, that's honesty too. It shows you're brave enough to admit when you’re not perfect.

Being honest helps people trust each other, like how your friend trusts you when you tell the truth, even if it’s hard!
