What is hole?

A hole is a space that’s been taken out from something else, like when you take a bite out of an apple and leave a little empty spot in the middle.

Imagine you have a big block of cheese, just like the kind you eat with crackers. Now, suppose you use a tiny cookie cutter to cut out a round piece from the middle. What's left is a hole, it’s not missing cheese; it's an open space where the cheese used to be.

Like a Missing Piece in Your Toy Box

Think of your toy box. If all your toys are inside, and you take one out, there's now a spot that's empty, like a hole in your toy box. You can still see through it or put something else in there later.

Or Like a Tunnel Under the Ground

Sometimes a hole is bigger, like when you dig under the ground to make a tunnel for a train to go through. The train doesn’t have to go over the mountain; it goes right through the hole in the middle of it!

A hole is just an open space where something used to be, and it’s there to help things move or change shape, no magic needed! A hole is a space that’s been taken out from something else, like when you take a bite out of an apple and leave a little empty spot in the middle.
