HH:MM is a way to tell time using hours and minutes, like counting how many full hours have passed and how many extra minutes we've waited.
Imagine you're playing with your favorite clock. The big hand shows hours, and the little hand shows minutes, or sometimes it's the other way around, depending on the clock!
How It Works
Think of a day divided into pieces:
- HH means how many hours have gone by, like 10 in the morning or 3 in the afternoon.
- MM counts the minutes that have passed since the last full hour, like 25 minutes after 10 o'clock.
So, if it's 10:25, your clock shows:
- 10 hours (that’s HH) and
- 25 minutes (that’s MM).
It’s just like counting how many cookies you’ve eaten and how many are left in the jar, one part tells you what you've done, the other tells you how much more there is!
Examples
- A child learns that 12:30 means it's half past twelve.
- A parent explains that HH:MM shows hours and minutes on a digital clock.
