A heap is like a special kind of pile where things are organized in a smart way.
Imagine you have a box full of toys, some big, some small. When you want to pick the biggest toy quickly, you don’t dig through all the others; instead, you always know exactly where the biggest one is. That’s how a heap works with numbers or things that can be compared.
Like a Toy Box
In a heap, the biggest (or smallest) item is always on top, just like the biggest toy in your box might sit right at the front so you can grab it easily. This makes it super fast to get the biggest or smallest thing when needed, even if there are lots of other things underneath.
Building the Pile
When you add a new toy to the box, you don’t just throw it in, you place it where it fits best, like how your toys might be arranged so they’re all visible. This keeps everything organized and makes finding what you need even quicker.
