Hallucination is when someone makes up things that aren’t real, just like a pretend game.
Imagine you're playing hide and seek in your favorite room. You count to 10 and then peek through the crack of the door. But instead of seeing your friend, you see a giant dinosaur wearing a hat! That’s a hallucination, it's like your brain played a trick on you, making you believe something that isn’t actually there.
Like a Pretend Dream
Sometimes, when you're really tired or excited, your brain can get confused and show you things that aren't real. It's like dreaming while you're awake, you might see shapes in the clouds or hear voices in the wind. That’s hallucination too!
A Real-Life Example
Think of a friend who always tells silly stories. One day, they say there’s a monster under their bed eating cookies. Even though no one else can see it, they believe it's real, that’s a hallucination, and it's part of the fun!
Examples
- A person hears voices when no one is speaking.
- A child feels bugs crawling on their skin without any cause.
