What is grep?

Grep is like a super-smart detective who helps you find hidden clues in a big pile of paper.

Imagine you have a giant notebook full of notes, and you're looking for every time someone wrote the word "cookie." That would take forever to do by hand! Grep does this job fast, like a robot with a magnifying glass, it scans through all your notes and finds every match in no time.

Grep looks at lines of text, just like reading sentences one by one. If it sees a word or phrase you're looking for, say "cookie", it highlights that line so you can see it clearly. You tell grep what to look for, and it does all the hard work.
