Google’s Tensor Processing Units (TPUs) are super-fast computers that help Google do really smart things like understand what you're saying or recognizing your face in photos.
Imagine you have a robot friend who loves to play with building blocks. Every time you give it a new puzzle, it has to figure out how the pieces fit together. Now imagine instead of one robot, you had a whole team of robots working together, they could solve puzzles much faster! That’s kind of what TPUs do for Google.
How TPUs Work
Think of TPUs like a special kind of calculator that can handle a lot of math problems at once. When you're using Google to search for something, or when your phone is recognizing your face, the TPU helps it do the math really quickly, much faster than regular calculators.
Why It Matters
Without TPUs, things like voice assistants or smart photo apps would be slower and not as good at understanding what you want. TPUs make these cool features possible by doing their job so fast that you barely notice them working!
