What is Gilded Age?

The Gilded Age was a time when rich people had lots and lots of money, while most other people worked really hard for not much.

Imagine you're playing with building blocks. Some kids have 100 blocks to make the biggest tower, while others only have 5 blocks to work with. That’s kind of like the Gilded Age, some people had all the tools and toys, and others barely got by.

Rich People Had Big Houses and Lots of Parties

During the Gilded Age, many rich people built huge houses, sometimes even bigger than a school! They wore fancy clothes and went to big parties with lots of food and music. It was like having the best birthday party ever, every day!

Regular People Worked Hard for Not Much

Meanwhile, most regular people worked in factories or on trains, doing tough jobs for long hours. They didn’t get much money, but they still tried their best to make ends meet.

It's a bit like if you had to do all the chores around the house while your brother got to play video games, every day.
