Gestures, vocalizations, and symbolic expressions are ways people communicate without using words, like a secret language everyone can understand.
Gestures are like hand signals you use when you’re talking. Imagine you're playing with your favorite toy and you want to show someone you're happy. You might jump up and down or give them a big hug. That’s a gesture, it's how your body talks!
Vocalizations are sounds we make with our voice, like laughing, crying, or saying "hello." Think about when you’re excited and you shout "Yay!", that's a vocalization, just like the sound a dog makes when it sees its owner.
Symbolic expressions are things we use to represent ideas, like drawing a picture of your family. If you draw a house with people around it, that’s a symbolic expression, it shows what your family looks like without saying a word.
These ways of communicating help us share our feelings and thoughts in fun and simple ways!
