What is freedom? | J. Krishnamurti?

Freedom is like being able to choose your favorite ice cream flavor without anyone telling you what to pick.

J. Krishnamurti, a wise man who loved to explain big ideas in simple ways, said that freedom means being able to think and act for yourself, not just following rules or other people’s ideas.

What Freedom Feels Like

Imagine you're playing with your toys, and you want to build the biggest tower ever. If someone says, "You have to use only red blocks," you’re not really free, you’re being told what to do. But if no one tells you what to do, and you can pick any block you like, that’s freedom.

Freedom in Your Mind

Sometimes people say they want freedom, but they still listen to others’ opinions or follow rules just because they always have. Krishnamurti said true freedom happens when your mind is open, like a clear window where you can see everything around you, not covered by someone else’s thoughts.

So, freedom isn’t just about doing what you want, it’s also about thinking for yourself and being truly happy with the choices you make.
