The First Intermediate Period was a time when Egypt wasn’t ruled by one strong king anymore, it was like a big school where everyone had their own group and no one listened to the principal.
Imagine you have your favorite toy, and suddenly there are other kids with their own toys. They don’t want to share, so they each start ruling their own corner of the playground. That’s what happened in Egypt around 2180 BCE, pharaohs became weaker, and different parts of the country were ruled by powerful families or local leaders.
Like a Playground with Many Leaders
Instead of one king telling everyone what to do, there were several groups trying to be the best. Some cities had their own rulers, like having multiple captains on the same ship. It was kind of chaotic, like when your friends all want to play different games at the same time.
Eventually, things got too messy, and a new strong leader came in to bring order again, just like how a teacher might step in to settle a big argument during recess.
