What is female?

Female means being part of a group that usually includes people who are born with two X chromosomes, but it's also about how someone feels inside and how they choose to live their life.

Think of the world as a big team. Some people have roles that come from how they were born, like having a special kind of map in their body, we call this chromosomes. Most people who are considered female usually get two X maps instead of one X and one Y.

Sometimes, people might not feel like the role that matches their birth map. That’s okay! Being female can also be about how you feel inside, it's like choosing your favorite color even if someone else thinks a different one is yours.

So whether you were born with an X map or you just really love being called female, that’s totally fine, and it all counts as part of what makes the world so colorful!
