What is Extreme weather?

Extreme weather is when the weather acts like it’s playing a super intense game that doesn’t want to end.

Imagine you’re playing tag with your friends in the park. It's fun and fast, but then all of a sudden, someone runs so fast they're like lightning, that's extreme weather! It’s when the weather is really, really strong or strange, like a supercharged version of what we normally see.

What Makes Weather Extreme?

Normal weather is like your favorite ice cream, it comes in different flavors, but it's always something you can enjoy. Extreme weather is like if your ice cream melted into a giant puddle and started chasing you around the park! It could be super hot, super cold, or even have huge winds that knock things over.

Examples of Extreme Weather

  • A hurricane is like a giant, spinning windstorm, it’s so strong it can even move houses!
  • A blizzard is like when the snowflakes come together and start throwing snow at you from all sides.
  • A heatwave is like being stuck in a sunny room with no windows, just hotter and hotter!

Extreme weather happens because things in the sky get really excited or confused, and they want to show off!
