What is exoplanet?

A planet is like a big rock that goes around a star, and an exoplanet is just a planet that’s not in our own neighborhood, it's far away, in another solar system.

What Makes It Special?

Imagine you're playing with your toys in your room. You know all the blocks and cars you have, those are like the planets in our solar system. But an exoplanet is like a toy that someone else has in their room, but you can see it from outside your window.

How Do We Know They’re There?

Sometimes, when a planet goes around its star, it makes the star "wobble", kind of like how a seesaw moves up and down. Scientists watch these wobbles with special tools, and that’s how they find exoplanets hiding in space!

A Real Example

One famous exoplanet is called Kepler-22b, and it's about 600 light-years away, that’s like going to the moon and back a whole bunch of times! It might even have oceans, just like Earth.
