What is evolutionary?

Evolutionary means something changes slowly over time because it helps things survive better.

Imagine you have a toy box full of different kinds of blocks, some are big and heavy, others are small and light. Now imagine that every year, the kids in your neighborhood pick out their favorite blocks to play with. Over many years, the ones who picked the lighter blocks might be able to build bigger towers faster than the others. So more and more kids start picking lighter blocks, it's like they're becoming better at playing because of that choice.

Like a Growing Garden

Now think about a garden. You plant seeds in the ground, and some grow into strong plants, while others might be weak or get eaten by bugs. The ones that survive are more likely to make new seeds, so next year, there are more strong plants. That’s evolutionary too! Just like with the blocks, the garden changes over time because what helps things live and grow is passed on.

A Slow Change

Evolution isn’t something that happens all at once, it's a slow change, just like how you grow taller year by year. Over many years, little differences can add up to big changes.
