Erythrophobia is the fear of blushing, which can make someone feel really shy or even sick when they think they might blush.
Imagine you're at school and you trip in front of the whole class. Your face feels hot, like it's on fire, that’s blushing! Now imagine you’re so worried about this happening again that you start feeling nervous just thinking about being seen by others. That’s erythrophobia.
What Causes Erythrophobia?
Sometimes people who blush a lot or get very red in the face when they're shy might worry about it too much, like how someone might worry about spilling their juice every time they try to drink it.
How It Feels
It’s like being on a rollercoaster, but instead of going up and down, your face feels hot and you're worried everyone is looking at you. Some people might even feel sick or want to run away because of this fear.
Erythrophobia isn’t something that happens all the time, it's more like when someone gets really shy in certain situations, just like how some kids get really nervous before a big test.
Examples
- A child gets nervous during a class presentation and starts to blush, which makes them feel even more embarrassed.
- A person becomes very anxious when meeting new people, fearing that their face might redden.
