What Is Energy? | Neil deGrasse Tyson Explains…?

Energy is like the power that lets things move and change around you.

Imagine you're playing with your favorite toy car. When you push it, it starts moving, that's because you gave it energy. Energy is what makes everything happen: your bike moves when you pedal, your lights turn on when you flip a switch, and even your body can run and jump because of energy inside you.

How Energy Works

Think of energy like food for your toys. When you feed your toy car with energy (by pushing it), it runs around the room. If you stop pushing it, it slows down, that's when the energy starts to run out.

Sometimes, energy changes shape. Like when you jump on a trampoline: you use energy from your legs to push up, and then the trampoline gives it back as you bounce higher. It’s like energy is playing tag with you!

So whether you're running, eating, or even just sitting there, energy is working hard behind the scenes, making everything happen!
