Emit light is when something creates or sends out light, like a little flashlight inside it.
Imagine you have a toy that shines, maybe a nightlight in your bedroom. When you turn it on, the light comes out of it and fills up the room. That’s what “emit light” means: the toy is emitting, or sending out, light.
Like a Lightbulb
Think of a lightbulb. When you flip the switch, electricity goes into the bulb, and suddenly, whoosh!, light comes out of it. The bulb is emitting light, just like your nightlight.
Like a Firefly
Or think about a firefly on a summer night. It’s tiny, but it glows in the dark. That glowing is the firefly emitting light all by itself, no switch needed!
So whenever something makes light and sends it out into the world, it's emitting light, like your favorite flashlight or even a friendly firefly!
