What is electromagnetism?

Electromagnetism is when electricity and magnetism work together like best friends on a playground.

Imagine you have a toy train that moves along tracks. If you press a button, the train zooms forward, that’s electricity at work. Now imagine the train has a special magnet on it, and there are magnets on the track too. When the train moves, it makes the magnets around it react, like when two magnets push or pull each other. That’s magnetism.

How Electricity and Magnetism Are Connected

Think of electricity as water flowing through a pipe. If you turn on the tap, water goes whoosh. Electricity is like that, it flows through wires. Now, if you twist a wire around a nail and connect it to a battery, the nail becomes magnetic! It can pick up paper clips, just like a magnet.

This connection between electricity and magnetism is called electromagnetism, and it helps power everything from your favorite toys to the lights in your house.
