What Gravity Does
How Gravity Works
Earth is big and heavy, so it pulls everything toward its center. This pull is what we call gravity. The bigger something is, the stronger its gravity. Earth's gravity is just right, strong enough to keep you on the ground, but not so strong that you can’t jump or run!
Even astronauts in space feel Earth’s gravity, but they're so far away that it feels weaker. It's like being really far from your favorite bouncy ball, you still feel its pull, but it doesn't bounce back as strongly. Earth’s gravity is like a gentle hug that keeps you on the ground, and everything else too!
Examples
- A ball drops to the ground when you let go of it.
