What is dots?

Dots are small round marks that help us see patterns and pictures.

Imagine you're drawing on a piece of paper with a crayon, if you just tap the crayon lightly on the paper, you make a dot. If you do this many times in different places, you can create a picture or even a shape. Think about how you might draw a snowman: you could use three dots for its body!

Making Dots Bigger

If you press harder with your crayon, the dot gets bigger, like when you draw a circle on paper and it’s not just one small spot but a whole round shape.

Using Dots to Make Things

Dots are also used in games. For example, in some board games, you move your piece based on how many dots you roll with a dice. Each side of the dice has a different number of dots, from 1 up to 6.

So next time you see a dot, whether it's on paper or on a toy, remember: it’s just a small mark that can help make something bigger and more fun!
