Diffusing is when things spread out and mix together, just like when you drop food coloring into water.
Imagine you have a glass of clear water, and you drop in a few drops of red food coloring. At first, the red stays in one spot, but soon it starts to move, little by little, it goes everywhere in the water until the whole glass is pinkish. That’s diffusing, the color moving from where it started to all around.
Like Sharing Candy
Think of diffusing like sharing candy in a classroom. You have a big bag of candy, and you start passing it out one by one. At first, only your friends near you get some, but as they pass it on, more kids get candy until almost everyone has some. The candy is spreading out, just like how things diffuse.
When It Happens Around You
You see diffusing every day. When you smell perfume from across the room, that’s diffusion, tiny particles of the perfume moving through the air and reaching your nose. Or when you drop a sugar cube into a cup of tea, and it slowly disappears as it mixes in. Diffusion is happening all around you, even if you don’t notice it!
