What is did?

Did is a word that helps us understand what happened when someone did something.

Imagine you're playing with your favorite toy, maybe it's a car or a doll. You say, "I did it!" That means you made the toy move or changed it in some way. The word did shows that an action was completed.

How It Works

  • When you do something, like running around the room, you're acting.
  • The word did tells us that your action is finished, just like when you finish a puzzle and say, "I did it!"

Think of did as a little helper that says, "This action is done!" It helps people know what happened in the past.

A Simple Example

If your friend jumps on the bed and then says, "I did it!", they're showing off their big jump. The word did lets everyone know that the jumping was completed, just like when you finish a drawing or eat all of your cookies.
