What is dialogue?

Dialogue is when people talk to each other and share their thoughts.

Imagine you're playing with your friend at the park, and you say, “I want to swing next!” Then your friend says, “No, I was here first!” That back-and-forth, where one person talks, then another responds, is a dialogue.

Like a Game of Tag

Think of dialogue like a game of tag. You run, then your friend runs after you. You stop and turn around, and the fun continues. In a conversation, someone says something, then the other person replies, just like passing the baton in a relay race.

It's All Around You

You have dialogue all day long:

  • When you tell your mom you’re hungry, and she says, “Have some cereal.”
  • When you ask your dad for help with homework, and he explains it step by step.

It’s not magic, it's just people sharing ideas in a fun, friendly way!
