What is devalue?

Devalue means to make something worth less than it was before.

Imagine you have a favorite toy that you love playing with every day, let's say it’s a shiny red robot. You think it’s the best toy in the world, and you’re happy with it.

Now, suppose your friend gets the same robot for their birthday, but it’s not as shiny or as new as yours. Because there are more robots around now, people don’t think each one is as special anymore, they devalue the robot because there are more of them.

It's like when you have a big bag of candy, and everyone gets some. At first, your candy feels super special, but once everyone has candy, it doesn't feel quite as amazing anymore.

So devaluing is just making something less valuable, like when too many people get the same toy or treat, and it becomes less special over time.
