Delayed means something happens later than it usually would.
Imagine you're waiting for your favorite snack at a restaurant. Normally, it takes 5 minutes to get your snack. But today, the chef is busy and says, "I’ll give you your snack in 10 minutes instead." That’s what delayed means, it happens later than expected.
Like Waiting for a Bus
You know how sometimes the bus comes late? If the bus usually arrives at 8:00 AM but today it gets there at 8:15 AM, we say the bus is delayed. It didn’t come when it was supposed to, it came later.
Like a Slow Game
Think of a game you play with your friend. If the game usually ends in 20 minutes but today takes 30 minutes because you're both having too much fun, we say the game is delayed. It didn’t end when it was supposed to, it ended later.
So whenever something happens later than usual, we call it delayed.
