What is DeFi?

Imagine your piggy bank is a vault, but instead of a banker holding the key, the rules are written in code that everyone can read. DeFi, short for Decentralized Finance, is a new way to handle money where no single boss or big bank is in charge.

How It Works

Think of a playground. In the old way, a teacher stands in the middle and decides who gets the slide or the swings. In DeFi, there is no teacher. Instead, the playground runs itself because everyone agrees to follow the same posted rules. These rules live on the blockchain, which is like a shared notebook that no one can erase or change once written.

Why It Matters

With DeFi, you are your own bank. You can lend money to earn interest, borrow against your savings, or trade digital coins without asking permission from a bank manager. It is like swapping lunch snacks directly with a friend instead of going through the school cafeteria line.

This system removes the middleman, so fees are lower and control is shared.

Old Way (Bank)New Way (DeFi)
Bank holds your moneyYou hold your money
Bank sets the interestThe code sets the interest
One company decidesEveryone follows the code

It is not perfect, but it gives you more freedom over your own pocket money.
