The Declaration of Independence is like a big group letter that said “we are no longer part of that team, we want our own club!”
In 1776, some people in America were tired of being ruled by England. They wanted to be free and make their own rules. So they wrote this special letter called the Declaration of Independence.
What It Said
The letter explained why they wanted to leave England. It listed all the unfair things that happened to them, like heavy taxes and not having a say in how they were governed.
It also said that people have certain rights, like the right to be free, to speak their mind, and to choose who rules them. These are called natural rights, and they believed everyone should have them.
A Big Decision
Signing this letter was a big deal because it meant war with England might happen. But it also showed that these people were brave and ready to fight for their freedom, just like how kids stand up for what they believe in when they play games or share toys!
