The Dead Sea is a super salty lake that’s so salty you can float like a balloon on water.
Imagine you’re playing in a bathtub and someone pours in a lot of salt, so much that your legs don’t even need to touch the bottom. That’s what happens in the Dead Sea. It's so salty because it gets its water from other lakes and rivers, but it doesn't get any new water, just more salt. Over time, all that salt stays behind, making the water really thick and heavy.
Why Is It Called "Dead"?
The name comes from the fact that most plants and animals can’t live in such salty water. If you put a fish in it, it might feel like it's wearing a swimsuit made of salt, and it won't be able to swim very far!
But humans? We love the Dead Sea! People go there to float, relax, and even get healthy because the salt is good for your skin.
So next time you're in a bathtub, remember: if you had enough salt, you could float like a king, just like in the Dead Sea!
