What is curator?

A curator is someone who takes care of special collections and makes sure people can enjoy them.

Imagine you have a toy box full of your favorite toys, cars, dolls, blocks, and action figures. Now imagine you’re the one who decides which toys go on display for your friends to see, and which ones stay hidden in the box until later. That’s what a curator does, but with things like art, books, or even fossils!

A curator is kind of like a toy box manager, they pick out the best toys (or artworks, or books) to show people. They also make sure everything stays in good shape and knows where it should be. Sometimes they even add new toys to the collection when something exciting comes along.

In a museum, a curator might look after all the paintings in the art room. They decide which painting gets to hang on the wall for visitors to see, just like you choose which toy to show your friend first. If a painting is damaged or needs cleaning, they take care of that too, like how you might fix up a broken toy before showing it off.
