What is cracking?

Cracking is when something breaks apart into smaller pieces because it’s been squeezed or stretched too much.

Imagine you have a bar of chocolate, the kind you can break in half with your hands. Now, picture that chocolate bar being squeezed inside a giant hug machine, so tight that it starts to squish and bend until poof! it breaks into tiny pieces. That’s cracking, like when the chocolate bar turns into little chocolate bits because it couldn’t take the pressure anymore.

How It Works

When you squeeze or stretch something really hard, its inside gets all confused and starts breaking apart in a messy way. This is especially fun with things like glass, ceramics, or even chips, they can crack into pieces just from being dropped or hit by something.

Cracking doesn’t need to be loud or dramatic. Sometimes it’s quiet, like when your favorite cup cracks after you pour hot coffee into it too fast. It's like the cup is saying, “I’m tired of being stretched so much!”
