Counterfeiting is when someone makes fake copies of real things to trick people into thinking they’re real.
Imagine you have a toy that everyone loves, let’s say it's a red and blue robot. Someone sees how much you like your robot, so they make fake robots that look just like yours, but they're not as good. They use cheap materials and paint, and then sell them to other kids for the same price. That’s counterfeiting, making fake toys to trick people into thinking they’re real ones.
What It Looks Like
If you buy one of these fake robots, it might fall apart after a few days or not do all the cool things your robot does. The person who made them is trying to save money by selling fake stuff instead of real stuff, but you end up with something that doesn’t work as well.
Why People Do It
Sometimes people counterfeit because they think they can make more money by selling fake things instead of real ones. They want others to believe their fake toys are just as good, or even better! But if the trick gets discovered, everyone might lose trust in the fake toys and go back to buying the real ones.
