What is copy?

Copy is when you take something you already have and make a new one just like it.

Imagine you have a favorite toy car. If you want another one that looks exactly the same, instead of building it from scratch, you can copy it, like making a twin brother or sister for your toy car.

Like Copying a Drawing

Let’s say you draw a smiley face on a piece of paper. Copying means you take a look at it and then draw another one that looks just the same. You’re not using magic; you're just paying attention to how it looks and making sure your new drawing matches.

Like Copying a Song

If you hear a song you love, and someone else sings it exactly like the original, they are copying the song. It’s like learning how to tie your shoes, you watch someone do it once, then you try it yourself.

Copying is everywhere: in school, when you copy notes; at home, when you copy a recipe; or even on your phone, when you copy a message to send to a friend. It's just taking something you know and making another one like it, no magic needed!
