Consciousness is like having a super special friend inside your head who tells you what’s happening around you and what you’re thinking.
Imagine you're playing with blocks. You pick up a red block, and suddenly you know it's red, that’s consciousness at work. It helps you notice things, remember them, and decide what to do next.
How It Feels
When you're happy or sad, consciousness is like the voice in your head saying, "I feel good!" or "I feel bad!" It's not just seeing or hearing, it's knowing you are seeing or hearing something. Like when you taste ice cream and say, "Yum!"
How It Works
Your brain is like a big, busy city with lots of workers. Consciousness is the boss who brings all the information together so you can understand what’s going on. Sometimes it's quiet, like when you're dreaming, and sometimes it's loud, like when you’re solving a puzzle.
Without consciousness, your brain would still work, but you wouldn't know what was happening!
