What is competitor?

A competitor is someone or something that tries to win the same prize you are trying to win.

Imagine you and your friend both want the biggest cookie in the jar. You’re both reaching for it, that’s what a competitor means! Your friend is your competitor because you're both going after the same goal, which is the big cookie.

Like Playing a Game

Think of it like playing a game with friends. If you’re racing to see who can run the fastest around the block, everyone else in the race is your competitor. You might not be friends with them, or maybe you are! But you're all trying to win the same prize: being first.

Let’s go back to the cookie jar example. If there are 10 cookies and only one is big, then everyone who wants that big cookie is your competitor. Maybe it's your brother, your mom, or even a robot, anything that tries to get the same prize you're going after.

So, whether you’re racing, baking, or just trying to be the best at something, a competitor is someone (or something) who’s also trying to win the same thing as you.
