What is competence?

Competence is when you know how to do something well, just like when you learn how to tie your shoes.

Imagine you're trying to put on your sneakers. At first, it's tricky, the laces are all tangled up, and you don’t know where to start. But after a few tries, you figure out the trick: loop one lace through the hole, pull it tight, then do the same with the other lace. Now you can tie your shoes quickly and easily every time. That’s competence, knowing how to do something without struggling.

How Competence Feels

When you're competent at something, it feels like riding a bike. You don’t have to think about balancing or pedaling, you just go. It's smooth and easy, like your brain has already done the work for you.
